Spot

Spot... Where do I begin....Spot was only 3 weeks old and not yet weaned when we saw him at the local flea market for sale. My youngest son was with me and begged for this goat. We had just bought the farm, so I could not use the "no place to keep it" excuse. I kept saying no....and saying no.....and saying no. We went to look at him again and there was a lady there talking about how we should not buy the goat because he was too little and to sick looking. He looked fine to me (of course I have never owned a goat before). She tried everything to stop my son from asking for the goat, so just to spite her, I bought the goat (I know...bad reason). We paid for the goat and asked the man to keep him as we finished shopping. Before we were out of hearing range, the lady tried to buy the goat. I had a feeling that was what she was up to all along. I showed her.

So now I own a goat. On the way home we had to get goat supplies so we stopped at the local farm store (all the employee know us by name by now). We bought a small dog halter, a leash, a tie out, bottles, and milk. Spot had to be bottle fed around the clock. Once I got him home, I realized that he was much too little to be tied outside by himself. In the house he came...

The next week we decided that Spot needed another goat for company. He was starting to act like a kid (and not the goat type). We went back to the flea market and purchased Skittles. Now one goat living in my son's room was one thing, but two? We ended up purchasing fencing and making the goats their own little area which we named "Goat World"

Since Spot spent so much time with the family, he is more like a dog than a goat. He will follow you around. He tries to escape from "Goat World" to be with people. He cries if he hears anyone nearby. If you go to visit him in "Goat World" he wants to be held. Being held is something that he has passed on to the other goats and the donkey (try to hold a donkey...it ain't easy!!).
